What is Bowen Therapy?

Bowen Therapy is a gentle and powerful myofascial technique, a recognised interpretation of the work of renowned Australian manual therapist, Thomas (Tom) Ambrose Bowen (1916-82). The gentle nature of Bowen makes ideal for animals. The Bowen moves initiate the body’s healing process; and this can often be experienced as deeply and profoundly relaxing.

A Bowen treatment

A Bowen treatment consists of sequences of Bowen moves - which are gentle, rolling moves made with the hands, at specific points on the body. Working via the fascia (or connective tissue) these moves impact the muscles, tendons, ligaments, joints, organs, the nervous system, and vascular and lymphatic systems of the body. During the treatment there are short wait periods which allow time for the impact of the moves to create change in the body.
